1.) Did someone read to you when you were a child (who, what, when, where, why)?

Growing up my mom read to my brothers and me almost daily. I believe this was a significant contributor to my enjoying reading throughout grade school and into adulthood.

2.) What's the first book you remember reading that had a lasting effect on you?

The Chronicles of Narnia were some of my favorite books growing up. C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite writers.

3.) What genre(s) do you love?

I read a lot of fiction growing up. These days I’m mostly reading non-fiction, from history to leadership, personal development, and more.

4.) Has a book ever changed your life?

The Grapes of Wrath was truly eye-opening into the era of the Great Depression and I believe it’s important for high school-aged kids to read. Crucial Conversations and Boundaries have helped me through difficult times in my life. Extreme Ownership - How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win has helped sharpen my leadership skills.

5.) What attracts you to a book? The cover? Podcast? Recommendation from others?

I love when I get a solid book recommendation from a podcast. When someone names a book, I usually write it down to investigate later. Also, I would be lying if I said the cover of books doesn’t spike my interest.
